The mission of the local Boys & Girls Club is to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.  In Los Fresnos there are three facilities available to the community; the main unit, the Memorial Park unit, and the Palmer Laakso Elementary unit.  The clubs have game rooms, education centers, arts rooms, outdoor activity areas, gymnasiums and specialized program spaces.

The clubs operate from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. during the school year and from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. during the summer months.  The Los Fresnos Boys & Girls Club boasts more than 350 members.  To become a member there is a $45 per month fee during the school year and an $80 per month fee during the summer.  Programs offered at the club focus on three core areas; Be Educated, Be Healthy and Be Leaders.  The three core areas of focus help kids reach for academic success, live healthy lifestyles and develop good character & leadership qualities.

Of the benefits, parents had this to say; “I feel like it provides the kids with opportunities to develop many useful skills, my kids in particular” Blanca Molina said.  Monica Lozano said “ I like the Boys & Girls Club of Los Fresnos because her homework is a priority and better revised.  She says they help her a lot”.  Sandra Peña added, “the staff is very friendly, they mentor the kids, they show them about responsibility and goals, they feed them nutritious food, they keep them active with physical activity, I am extremely satisfied with the program”.
