Business Networking Opportunities Continue for Los Fresnos

In March the Los Fresnos Area Chamber of Commerce began a series of three business presentations to bring awareness to the fact that our community WILL experience unprecedented growth in the very near future. The thrust of these presentations being to alert the community and business community to the need to prepare for the changes that are being seen and will be seen, not just in our community but the Rio Grande Valley in general, and to be alert to the great opportunities that this growth will bring.

The first presentation was at the March general meeting, the guest speaker being Mr. Marco Saldivar who gave an overview of how the energy reform in Mexico, the Matzatlán / Matamoros Inter-Oceanic Corridor, and the arrival of Space X and the Aerospace Industry will most certainly affect our community in very positive ways.

The second presentation in the series was given at the Chamber’s monthly general meeting on Tuesday, April 28, at the Los Fresnos Community Center. Mr. Eduardo Campirano, Director and CEO of the Port of Brownsville, presented “What’s Going On at the Port.” The Port of Brownsville is the largest land owning port authority in the nation. The Port is the home of the largest domestic fabricator of offshore oil drilling rigs. The Port’s Foreign Trade Zone leads the nation in value of exported commodities. The Port has created more quality jobs, attracted more private and public investment, increased Port activity, protected the local environment, and has promoted the common good through strategic economic development. Coffee and pastries were served for the many who attended.

The third presentation in the series is scheduled for May 26, 2015, at the monthly general meeting. Be sure to attend and be available to network with local and Valley leaders. These opportunities afford everyone involved the connections to position themselves for success during this time of economic growth.
