Los Fresnos Youth Learn About Life as a Police Officer
- Updated: July 17, 2015
Officers Norman Esquivel and Javin Morales of the Los Fresnos Police Department were greeted, on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 by a number of 5 to 12 year olds eager to learn from the two officers about life as a police officer in Los Fresnos. Officers Esquivel and Morales demonstrated the features and functions of a police cruiser. The children were at attention as the sirens wailed and lights flashed. The officers also pointed out and explained the items that they carry on their duty belt and fielded many questions by the inquisitive youngsters.
The demonstration and presentation was part of the 2015 Summer Reading Program taking place at the Ethel L. Whipple Memorial Library. The title of the program is “Every Hero Has a Story” and police officers serving in the Los Fresnos community certainly have a story of their own. “A hero is someone who puts their life on the line for someone else even if they don’t know them” said officer Esquivel, giving his description of a hero.
Heroes are all around, take the time to say thank you to someone who you feel is a hero in your book. On behalf of the Los Fresnos News, thank you officers Esquivel and Morales and the entire Los Fresnos Police Department for your service and protection and thank you Ethel Whipple Library staff for your commitment to our community’s youth.
