The economy and population in Los Fresnos has seen clear signs of growth recently.  The U.S. Census reports that Los Fresnos and its surrounding rural areas are the fastest growing small city and market in Cameron County.  A growth in population increases the demand for homes.  The recent growth and expected possible increase in population within the next few years means residents and business owners should actively prepare.  On Thursday, July 28, 2016, the Los Fresnos Community Development Corporation hosted a meeting with USDA representatives of the USDA Edinburg office at the Los Fresnos Community Center located at 204 North Brazil Street. USDA Rural Development Area Director, Roel R. Gomez, explained how the USDA offers new home construction and home repair loans, loan guarantees, and grant opportunities to eligible families located in the City of Los Fresnos and surrounding rural areas. These programs improve the quality of life of our working class and elderly residents.   USDA loans and grants also provide expanded business opportunities in sales of residential lots, subdivision developments, construction of homes, home insurance, and finance.  Los Fresnos residents and business owners are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.  For more information on program income and site eligibility please contact:  Roel R. Gomez, Area Director – USDA Rural Development at (956)383-4928, ext. 4 or Desi Martinez, Economic Development Liaison – Los Fresnos CDC at (956)778-8929.
