Falcon’s Epic Run for State Football Championship Ends in Lake Travis
- Updated: December 9, 2016
Congratulations to the Falcons Varsity Football Team on a Great Season!

The playoff road to a State Championship is a difficult road to navigate and this year the path was through Austin Lake Travis.
The LFHS Varsity Falcons came into the match-up at 8 and 4 after defeating the San Antonio Southwest Dragons in the area round at Alamo Stadium in San Antonio.
The Falcons faced off against a 12 and 1 Austin Lake Travis Cavaliers team which was ranked third in Class 6A. The Falcons had faced challenges as high school teams often do after every graduating class and add to that a change of leadership.
This season saw a new Athletic Director and Head Coach in Patrick Brown who had challenged and led the Falcons to the third round of high school playoff football. Arriving at the Regional Semi Final round is no easy task and clear indication that this year’s Falcons had risen to the challenge.
The Lake Travis Cavaliers did prove to be a handful for the Falcons as they handed them their final loss of the year at 54 to 7. Though late in the game the Falcons displayed potential as they managed to hold the Cavaliers to only a field goal and put up a score of their own with only a minute left in the game, a 22 yard rushing touchdown by senior quarterback Mark Mata.
Congratulations to Head Coach Patrick Brown and the 2016 Falcons on an exciting year of football and a great run!
