Schools Implemented Hour of Code Last Thursday, Friday

More 4,000 students in grades Kinder through 5 took part in the “Hour of Code” last Thursday and Friday in computer labs all over the Los Fresnos Consolidated district as part of Computer Science Education Week. Computer Science Education Week was founded as a call to action to raises awareness about the need to elevate computer science education at all levels and to underscore the critical role of computing in all careers.
The “Hour of Code” is a global movement by Computer Science Education Week and Code.org reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries through a one-hour introduction to computer science and computer programming. The one-hour tutorials are available in over 45 languages. This grassroots campaign is supported by over 400 partners and 200,000 educators worldwide.
Los Fresnos elementary schools were taking part in the “Hour of Code” for the second straight year in a row. The “Hour of Code” is one of the largest learning events in history throughout last week around the world.
