Local WalMart Awards Ethel L. Whipple Memorial Library Grant For Summer Reading Program

The Friends of the Ethel L. Whipple Memorial Library located on 402 W. Ocean Blvd. recently received a grant from Wal-Mart for their upcoming Summer Reading Program.

The grant award was received on March 13, 2017 via mail in the amount of $1,000.00. Mr. Pedro Maldonando, Store Manager, Los Fresnos Wal-Mart store 2765 has always been a generous supporter of the Ethel L. Whipple Memorial Library events and programs.

The Summer Reading Program scheduled for sometime in July 2017 is a three week program for children ages 5-12. The program activities include reading primarily, guest speakers, arts and crafts, and lots of fun and games. The theme for the 2017 Summer Reading Program will be “Build a Better World”.

The $1,000.00 grant will help the library promote the program and provide incentives, snacks, and supplies. The Friends of the Ethel L. Whipple Memorial Library would like to thank Wal-Mart for their continued support of their programs and community events.
