Physical Therapist, Teachers Approved by Board

The Los Fresnos CISD Board of Trustees approved the hiring of a physical therapist and four teachers at its regular meeting Monday.

Krista Garcia was hired as physical therapist at Los Fresnos United campus. Teachers approved included:

  • Carlos Rivas, PE teacher, Los Cuates Middle School
  • Juan Barriga, PE teacher, Lopez-Riggins Elementary School
  • Elsa Ham, teacher, Lopez-Riggins Elementary School
  • Alma Estrada, teacher, Laureles Elementary School

Trustees approved proposing the ad valorem tax rate as previous years, and setting August 28 as the date for a Public Hearing to discuss proposed budget and tax rate. The proposal includes $1.17 per $100 valuation for Maintenance and Operations and $0.02 per $100 valuation for the Interesting and Sinking fund for a total tax rate of $1.19 per $100 valuation.

Trustees also adopted an order and notice for the 2017 trustee election date of November 7. They also approved a contract for election services with Cameron County.
