Ann Vickman Participates in Lilead Summer Institute at ODU

Ann-VickmanSTISDThe Lilead Fellows Program supports Fellows as they tackle important and pressing goals for their districts and school library programs. Fellows began to build a network of engaged and enthusiastic educators dedicated to working collaboratively in large and small groups to share ideas and best practices, struggle with how to address challenges, and explore exciting possibilities for school libraries in their districts, states, and across the nation. In addition, John Chrastka of EveryLibrary led Fellows in thinking about political literacy in the context of school libraries.

Ann Weeks of the Lilead Project team said, “This elite group of school district administrators is passionate about the schools and communities they serve.

They are equally convinced of the power and value a good school library program has on the success of its students, teachers, parents, and staff. They each see their district’s library program as an integral part of 21st century learning and teaching and are all using the Lilead Fellows Program and the diversity in knowledge and experience of its participants and mentors to move their district’s library program forward and closer to their vision.”

Ann Vickman will convene for her second face-to-face meeting just before the AASL National Conference in November in Phoenix, Arizona. Virtual meetings with her mentor small groups and online courses will allow her to remain connected to other Fellows and focused on her goals.
