Thirty Named AP Scholars, Including 19 Graduates

Thirty students from Los Fresnos High School have been named AP scholars by The College Board for the 2016-17 school year.

From the group, 11 are current students at LFHS – 10 seniors and one junior. The other 19 0 students were graduates from the Class of 2017.

The elite list includes 31 students who were named AP Scholars, 12 students who were named AP Scholars with Honor, 11 students who were named AP Scholars with Distinction, and one student named as a National AP Scholar.

AP Scholars scored 3 or better on three or more AP exams; AP Scholars with Honor scored 3 or better on four or more AP exams and an average of 3.25 on AP exams taken; AP Scholars with Distinction scored 3 or better on five or more AP exams, and an average of 4 on all AP exams taken; and National AP Scholars scored 4 or better on eight or more AP exams and an average of 4 on all AP exams.

Seniors named included:

AP Scholar: Alan Michael Benavidez, Alejandra Diaz, Andrea Itzel Gallegos Plaza, Reagan Dean-Edward Garza, Isaac Nathaniel Muñoz, and Jonathan Joseph Sandlin.

AP Scholar with Honors: Julian Andrew Echevarria, Andrea Catalina Herbert, Khrista Noelle Trovela.

AP Scholar with Distinction: Joriam Martinez Parra.

The lone junior receiving the award was Christopher Jacob Parra, who was named AP Scholar with Honors.

The 19 students who graduated in May from the Class of 2017 receiving the honor included:

AP Scholar: Giancarlo Coello, Ana C. Estrada, Cesar Monzon, Samantha G. Padilla, Samantha N. Ramirez, Ivan A. Salazar, Juan A. Sosa.

AP Scholar with Honor: Taylor W. McCord, Baldemar Sosa, Kasey Zepeda

AP Scholar with Distinction: Branden R. Anzak, Alexander Barajas, Kevin Benavides, Daisy Paredes, Josephine M. Portier, Joshua C. Salazar, Aaron C. Solis, Alvaro M. Solis

National AP Scholar: Josephine M. Portier.
