Early Voting Under Way in Los Fresnos

Early voting for a seat on the Cameron County Commissioners Court began Tuesday , Feb. 20 and will continue through Friday, March 2 for the March 6 primary election.
Area voters can cast their ballots for a number of county and state races at Los Fresnos Community Center at 204 Brazil St.
Although there are no local races, voters will choose between two Democrats running for Cameron County judge and a few other contested county-wide races.
They are Robert Sanchez and Eddie Trevino Jr., who is the incumbent county judge. Carlos Cascos, a former county judge, is running as a Republican for the county’s top administrative seat.
In other contested Democratic Party races, Lali Betancourt is running against Sylvia Garza Perez for county clerk.
Also, two people are trying to unseat Rene Oliveira, who is the state representative for District 37. They are Arturo Alonzo and Alex Dominguez.
For district judge for the197th judicial court, five are going after that seat. They are: Adolfo Cordoba, Gerardo “Gerry” Linan, Carlos Masso and Sonia Herrera.
The polls for early voting will stay open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. every week day through March 2.
