BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS — The Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation (BCIC) recently received authorization and approval from the Brownsville City Commission and the BCIC Board of Directors to permanently relocate to the city’s Historic Young House located in Downtown Brownsville. The move will accomplish the completion of another strategic goal for the organization and define a new era of economic development for Brownsville, Texas.

Since the inception of both economic development organizations, such strong collaboration has never taken place. The Historic Young House will now be home to the city’s “type a” and “type b” economic development organizations which currently comprise Brownsville’s economic development forefront.

The BCIC Board of Directors and staff expect nothing less but the necessary synergy and collaboration needed to continue moving Brownsville forward as a competitive city in the region for growth and economic vitality. Rebeca Castillo, Executive Director of the BCIC stated the following upon receiving approval for the much awaiting relocation,

“The organization had previously adopted a strategic goal to relocate in a location that would send a message clear to the region; Brownsville is ready for business. After several efforts through our Relocation Committee to find such a location, we collectively decided that the Historic Young House would achieve such message since it currently housed our counterpart, the Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation (GBIC).”

The BCIC and GBIC now look forward in working collectively after a series of preliminary encounters to ensure both organizations succeed in achieving their respective goals.
