The Los Fresnos rodeo grounds will host two rodeos this weekend.

But the cowboys and cowgirls aren’t the ones people normally get to watch. Neither are they sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.

They are little people from Torreon, a city in the Mexican state of Coahuila, Mexico, and have been performing south of the border for more than 40 decades.

Dubbed themselves as the Rudest Of All Western Cowboys, or Los Vaqueros Mas Rudos del Oeste, the group will perform two different evenings at the Los Fresnos rodeo grounds.

One function will start at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept, 1 and the second at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept 2.

In addition to the performance, including riding ponies, the entertainment includes performances by La Guera Mitota, a mano a mano between Vicente Fernandez vs. Antonio, Gloria Trevi vs. Maluma and Fonsi Vs. Daddy Yankee and others (none of them are the real actors).

Presale tickets are $20 for adults, $8 for youngsters six years of age and up and children under six are free. A ticket at the gate will cost $25 for an adult and $10 for a youngster.

Martin Torres, a spokesman with M&M Entertainment, said this is the first time they come to the Rio Grande Valley.

He said they are making a two-year tour in the United States that will cover 11 states and 32 cities.

Each function lasts one and a half hours and will include comedies, a bullfight and other horseback riding events.

M&M Entertainment is renting the arena from Los Fresnos Rodeo Committee to hold the events.
