Santa Claus highlighted the 2018 Los Fresnos Christmas Parade and Festival.

The parade was held Saturday, Dec. 8, surpassing the attendance expectation as the weather was cooler and the threat of rain persisted.

Val Champion, executive director with Los Fresnos Area Chamber of Commerce, said the annual event keeps getting bigger and better.

“We had more than 40 entries for the parade,” he said. “The attendance was quite significant considering the weather.”

Overall, he said, it was a very good turnout.

The parade ended at the local high school and it was followed by the traditional Christmas Festival.

Also, the two events were joined by the monthly Under The Stars Artisan Market.

Champion said the LACC is the events’ sponsor.

He said they try to hold the outdoor market in conjunction with other chamber events to give the community the opportunity to have access to more things to do.

“We like to offer the community a wider spectrum of things,” he said, “so they get to enjoy the fun and the entertainment these events provide.”
