New Playground Opens at Los Fresnos Nature Park
- Updated: June 14, 2019

A new children’s playground has now opened at Los Fresnos Nature Park on North Arroyo Boulevard, also known as FM 1847.
But this one has no swing sets, teeter totters, slides or monkey bars.
This playground has a number of rock sculptures, including a canoe, a rainbow trout, a climbing rock and other items.
It’s actually a children’s playground built to fit the nature park that has been built in stages.
After all is said and done, the park will have a little bit of everything.
Among the amenities people can enjoy is a walking trail with water and exercise stations, an amphitheater, restrooms and parking lot.
The facility has been under construction just north of the city off FM 1847 on 22 acres of land.
The state of Texas allocated $400,000 through its sporting goods taxes and the City of Los Fresnos put another $400,000 in a dollar-to-dollar matching funds and it will take more than that to get it complete.
City Manager Mark Milum said earlier the playground was about to be completed.
Los Fresnos resident Aurelio Padilla said he uses the parks trail a minimum of three times a week.
“I am here as much as I can,” he said. “This is a neat looking park and more and more people are using it today.”
