It has been more than a year now since the Los Fresnos Chamber of Commerce launched a monthly event to bring people together and enjoy music and food as well as to buy art and craft items made either by local or out of town folks.

They called it Under the Stars Artisan Market and it has been held usually the second or third Saturday weekend of the month.

The first outdoor market took place in November 2017 and more than a year later is still going strong.

Dozens of food vendors, art and crafts enthusiasts, gadget inventors, musicians, schools and even non-profit organizations have been participating in the monthly event held at the city’s Memorial Park across from the local high school.

And this month, the first such market is set for Jan. 26 at the same place and same time.

An old fashioned Mexican-styled loteria will be played during the two-hour market and everybody is welcome to bring their own Sirena, Nopal, Venado, Corazon, Chalupa, Rana, Gallo, Tambor, Guitarra, Campana and Borracho cards, among many others, with them.

Accordionist Cosme Cerda and El Gallito de Brownsville will be providing some of the entertainment as well as DJ Oscar Olivarez.
