Photo: Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>by Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s often said some things don\u2019t happen until they do for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>Such was the case for a paramedic with Los Fresnos Emergency Services who went on a fishing trip in the upper Laguna Madre.<\/p>\n<p>On his first fishing trip on a boat, Edgar Bazan also caught his first fish ever.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is neat,\u201d he said, holding a 16-inch plus speckled trout. \u201cI have been fishing two or three times before, but this a first for me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bazan, who lives in Brownsville, went on a recent fishing trip with a friend on bay waters across from Port Mansfield in Willacy County.<\/p>\n<p>As he kept on casting using a live croaker, Bazan finally caught the fish, brought it on boat with a net and started showing the scaly specimen just like people show a trophy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have fished several times before,\u201d he said. \u201cBut I never have caught anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But after several hours on the boat, Bazan caught not just one but his limit of five speckles that ended up in a deep fryer.<\/p>\n<p>The 37 year old started working with Los Fresnos EMS in 2011 and also works for the Brownsville Fire Department and the Port Isabel EMS since 2005.<\/p>\n<p>Asked how he liked fishing, he said: \u201cI loved it.
