Photo: Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>by Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Community Development Corporation of Los Fresnos has approved a new budget for fiscal year 2019-2020; that begins Oct.1 and ends September 30.<\/p>\n<p>The $391,100 budget is higher than the 2018-19 of $358, 138.<\/p>\n<p>The new figures, as presented in the budget included $5,200 in salaries and $29,000 in professional services.<\/p>\n<p>However, the board approved to increase the professionals service line item to $31,600.<\/p>\n<p>Desi Martinez, the CDC liaison requested a $100 increase per month car allowance.<\/p>\n<p>City Manager Mark Milum proposed to increase the allowance by $50 but the board opted for the $100.<\/p>\n<p>Later in the meeting, Martinez said he has been making contacts with other entities and his goal to have more businesses relocate here continues.<\/p>\n<p>The board approved allocating money to several organizations, including $9,000 to the Cameron County Livestock Show, $12,000 to Los Fresnos Rodeo and $1,500 to the cowboy cookoff.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the meeting, the board heard a presentation about the goals and functions of the Los Fresnos Chamber of Commerce by Val Champion, the chamber executive director.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Tony Vindell\/LFN The Community Development Corporation of Los Fresnos has approved a new budget for fiscal year 2019-2020; that begins Oct.1 and ends September 30.
