Photo: Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>by Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Plants, plants and more plants are now available at Sunshine Garden Nursery.<\/p>\n<p>The new business has a wide variety of ornamental plants, trees, shrubs and cactus.<\/p>\n<p>Located just east of FM 803 and Henderson Road, it\u2019s the first full service nursery to open within miles west of Los Fresnos.<\/p>\n<p>Katy Salinas and her son, Miguel, run the outdoor shop that opened to the public during a ribbon cutting held Saturday, Aug. 31. The event was hosted by the Los Fresnos Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n<p>The Salinas said they have been working at the nursery for the last seven months to get it going.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe bought the property from a friend of ours,\u201d said Katy Salinas. \u201cWe wanted to do something with the land and here we are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Salinas said they specialize in tropical plants.<\/p>\n<p>About a half a dozen palm trees, including coco plumose and royal palms as well as several types of cactus are for sale.<\/p>\n<p>Other trees include live oak and wild olive.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10759\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10759\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10759\" src=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/017.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/017.jpg 600w, https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/017-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-10759\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Katy and Miguel Salinas talk about the nursery they\u2019ve opened west of Los Fresnos.
