Photo: Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>by Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The City of Los Fresnos has the newest city hall in the Rio Grande Valley, so why not celebrate the grand opening of this spic and span facility?<\/p>\n<p>A city-wide pachanga-styled party will be held starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at the newest home of city government built along West Ocean Boulevard.<\/p>\n<p>Constructed at a cost of $3.2 million and financed through revenue bonds, the structure has some 20 city employees, two Los Fresnos Chamber of Commerce staffers and one employee of the Community Development Corp.<\/p>\n<p>The CDC board now convenes in the same chamber where the municipal court judge and city commissioners hold their meetings.<\/p>\n<p>Val Champion, the LCC executive director, said the new location is awesome.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe, and everybody else, are pleased for being here,\u201d he said. \u201cThis is a lot better compared to where we were for the last five-and-a-half years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Champion was referring to the chamber\u2019s previous location located in the back of the Wells Fargo Bank Building.<\/p>\n<p>He said they are inviting everybody in the community to come out and help them celebrate, not dedicate he emphasized, the new city hall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis building belongs to the community,\u201d Champion said. \u201cTherefore, we are inviting them to celebrate this milestone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Saturday\u2019s party includes activities for children and adults alike such as train rides, rock climbing, hot dogs, concerts by Conjunto Halcon of the local school district and the Show Down Band.<\/p>\n<p>And best of all, there is no charge to join in the celebration that will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>City Manager Mark Milum has said the new City Hall will prepare the city for the challenges of the next 75 years.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11089\" src=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/image002.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"255\" srcset=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/image002.jpg 600w, https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/image002-300x128.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Tony Vindell\/LFN The City of Los Fresnos has the newest city hall in the Rio Grande Valley, so why not celebrate the grand opening of this spic and span facility?
