Photo: Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>by Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The employees with the City of Los Fresnos could not be more proud as they are now in a brand new municipal building that houses the administrative offices as well as the local chamber of commerce.<\/p>\n<p>Officials predict the $3.2 million facility will prepare the city for the next 70 years or more as the town of some 8,000 residents keeps growing by leaps and bounds.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, Dec. 14, a citywide celebration took place to officially let the townspeople know where some of their tax money is going.<\/p>\n<p>The city had to finance the construction of the 11,000-square-foot building through certificates of obligation and it will take years to pay if off.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, officials said the city is in good financial shape and it will take care of its debt.<\/p>\n<p>The celebration took place in a festival-like atmosphere with rides and games for children, two concerts, hot dogs, cookies and other amenities.<\/p>\n<p>The building is now the home of some 20-plus city employees, the two-person staff with Los Fresnos Chamber of Commerce and for the economic advisor, or liaison, for Los Fresnos Community Development Corp.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11182\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11182\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11182\" src=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/city-hall-shriners-010.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"327\" srcset=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/city-hall-shriners-010.jpg 600w, https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/city-hall-shriners-010-300x164.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-11182\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Texas Show Down Band played several tunes during the event. Photo: Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Mark Milum, the city\u2019s manager, welcomed the crowd saying they are fortunate for having such a brand new facility which he described as a tremendous success for the city.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the sixth city hall location,\u201d he said. \u201cOur growth has been tremendous and we needed a building such as this one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Milum said the old city hall had 4,700 square feet, compared to 11,000-plus square feet the new one has.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis building is a tribute to the past, to present,\u201d he said, \u201cand to future generations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The celebration included presentations by a number of elected officials, area pastors, music provided by Conjunto Halcon with the local school district and the Texas Show Down Band.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11185\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11185\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11185\" src=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/city-hall-shriners-025.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"357\" srcset=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/city-hall-shriners-025.jpg 600w, https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/city-hall-shriners-025-300x179.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-11185\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Walmart and Los Fresnos PRCA were two of several organizations that participated in the event.
