City Manager Mark Milum has received a satisfactory evaluation by Los Fresnos City Council and will stay on the job if he wishes to do so.<\/p>\n

The council met in executive session during the Tuesday, Jan. 14 meeting of the council and about an hour later Mayor Narvaez said the council had a favorable evaluation of Milum\u2019s job as the city\u2019s administrator.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all agreed he has been doing a great job with the city,\u201d he said in announcing the result of the closed-door meeting. \u201cWe would like to continue working with him if he is willing to work with us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Milum completed his 15th year as city manager on Nov. 19 and he is now starting on his 16th, managing a city of some 60 employees and a budget of more than $8.1 million.<\/p>\n

Under his tenure, the city has not raised its property taxes which stands at 71.5 cents for every $100 of assessed valuation.<\/p>\n

Before the council met to discuss Milum\u2019s job, two local residents voiced their support for the city manager, saying he has been doing a great job.<\/p>\n

They were Darlene Pederson and Manuel Abrego, both of whom credited Milum for the good things going on and happening in Los Fresnos today.<\/p>\n

The council also heard a presentation from Val Champion, the executive director of the local chamber of commerce.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
