{"id":11281,"date":"2020-01-24T20:06:01","date_gmt":"2020-01-24T20:06:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/?p=11281"},"modified":"2020-01-24T20:06:01","modified_gmt":"2020-01-24T20:06:01","slug":"students-thank-trustees-for-service-dedication","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/?p=11281","title":{"rendered":"Students Thank Trustees for Service, Dedication"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11273\" src=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/49385714777_084fd38000_k.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/49385714777_084fd38000_k.jpg 600w, https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/49385714777_084fd38000_k-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/49385714777_084fd38000_k-405x270.jpg 405w, https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/49385714777_084fd38000_k-60x40.jpg 60w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>by Ronnie Zamora\/LFCISD<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Los Fresnos CISD students representing all 14 schools took the microphone to thank trustees for their service at the monthly regular meeting Jan. 13.<\/p>\n<p>Los Fresnos CISD is one of 1,025 school districts in Texas to celebrate January as School Board Recognition Month.<\/p>\n<p>They followed the theme of this year&#8217;s School Board Recognition Month, &#8220;Launching the Next Generation.&#8221; Two students each read excerpts of The Launch Cycle: A Design Thinking Framework for K-12 to each of the seven trustees.<\/p>\n<p>The students who participated were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Step 1 \u2013 Look, Listen and Learn: Armando Garza, Los Fresnos Elementary and Kaitlin Elizondo, Resaca Middle School<\/li>\n<li>Step 2 \u2013 Ask Tons of Questions: Arianna Alexa Hernandez and Priscilla Centeno, Rancho Verde Elementary<\/li>\n<li>Step 3 \u2013 Understand the Process or Problem: Brandon Pecina, Villareal Elementary and Sylvia Burlingame, Olmito Elementary School<\/li>\n<li>Step 4 \u2013 Navigate Ideas: Brisaeda Guerrero, Liberty Memorial Middle School and Gabriella Hernandez, Palmer-Laakso Elementary<\/li>\n<li>Step 5 \u2013 Create a Prototype: Noah Gomez, Lopez-Riggins Elementary and Avani Bejarano, Dora Romero Elementary<\/li>\n<li>Step 6 \u2013Highlight and Fix: \u00a0Jennifer Laznofsky, Los Fresnos United and Paola Solis, Los Cuates Middle School<\/li>\n<li>Step 7 \u2013 Launch to an Audience: Manuel Bocanegra, Los Fresnos High School and Leonel Perez, Las Yescas Elementary<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The 14 students did the entire presentation without the help of staff or administrators.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11272\" src=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/49385511556_0ba57ec0be_c.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/49385511556_0ba57ec0be_c.jpg 600w, https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/49385511556_0ba57ec0be_c-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The seven trustees and their years of service include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Board president Leonel Garza, trustee since 2005<\/li>\n<li>Board vice-president Sandra Garcia, trustee since 2009<\/li>\n<li>Board secretary Ruben Trevi\u00f1o, trustee since 2010<\/li>\n<li>Board assistant secretary Martin Castillo, trustee since 2007<\/li>\n<li>Trustee Jesus Amaya, who has served since 2004<\/li>\n<li>Trustee Rey Farias, who has served since 2004<\/li>\n<li>Trustee Leticia Quintero, who has served since 2018<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Serving as a link between the community and classroom, school board members are elected to establish the policies that provide the framework for public schools.
