{"id":12049,"date":"2020-08-27T17:48:10","date_gmt":"2020-08-27T17:48:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/?p=12049"},"modified":"2020-08-27T17:48:28","modified_gmt":"2020-08-27T17:48:28","slug":"lfcisd-plans-to-build-a-multipurpose-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/?p=12049","title":{"rendered":"LFCISD plans to build a multipurpose center"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"980\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Center-photo.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12050\" srcset=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Center-photo.jpg 980w, https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Center-photo-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Center-photo-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 980px) 100vw, 980px\" \/><figcaption><strong><em>The proposed multipurpose center will be built near the building where the LFCISD Board of Trustees meet. <\/em><\/strong>Photo: Tony Vindell \/ LFN<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By TONY VINDELL<br><\/strong>LFN<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LOS FRESNOS &#8211; Sometime in the near future, residents of Los Fresnos and its surrounding areas will be able to watch a performance, meet in an spacious place and hold good-size gatherings inside a building that will cater to those types of activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That is the intention of the Los Fresnos Consolidated Independent School District and its plan to build a multipurpose facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And although some people have been calling it a performing arts center, LFCISD Superintendent Gonzalo Salazar said they want a building the district will use for a number of things, including staff development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2019, the district bought a 10.5-acre property next to Los Cuates Middle School along Texas Highway 100 for $602,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pablo Bazaldua, the district\u2019s chief financial officer, said the location fits the district\u2019s plans as it wanted a place near one of the district\u2019s schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the idea was to start on the project this year, but the pandemic has impacted the plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, COVID-19 has affected all sectors of the state and of the country, including the economy, jobs, construction and education.
