{"id":12535,"date":"2020-12-24T18:39:09","date_gmt":"2020-12-24T18:39:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/?p=12535"},"modified":"2020-12-24T18:39:10","modified_gmt":"2020-12-24T18:39:10","slug":"henderson-road-project-gets-closer-to-completion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/?p=12535","title":{"rendered":"Henderson Road project gets closer to completion"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Henderson.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Henderson.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12523\" srcset=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Henderson.jpg 600w, https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Henderson-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><figcaption><strong><em>This is how one of the new resaca crossings on Henderson Road looks today as it gets near completion. <\/em><\/strong>Photo: Tony Vindell \/ LFN<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By TONY VINDELL<\/strong><br>LFN<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Has anyone been checking out how the Henderson Road project is coming along?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If not, people should take a look to find out how this $2.2 million project is shaping up after nearly a year in the making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two narrow resaca crossings that have been a source of discontent among residents living along the road that has one of the city\u2019s best scenic pictures, is now looking totally different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Retaining walls made up of concrete and other building materials have been either built or are about to be completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The crossing will be wide enough for two vehicles to go through and will have walkways for pedestrians once it\u2019s finished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Los Fresnos City Council approved last year a $2.2 million package to improve the road crossings which were barely wide enough for one vehicle to get through, let alone two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pederson Construction has been in charge of the construction side of the project and the engineering side of it is under Ambitech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The work began about a month ago on the east side of the road and will move to the west side once Phase I is finished, Vicente Mendez, a project manager with Ambitech said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>City Manager Mark Milum, who has been updating the council during his reports as head of the municipal government, said the project is going well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI have pretty good news,\u201d he told the council at its Dec. 8 meeting. \u201cWe are getting close to the end of this project.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Millum said the east side of the crossing will be closed to thru traffic for about two weeks to allow a crew to work there and that the neighbors there will be notified about the closure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am looking forward to seeing how this is going to turn out,\u201d he said. \u201cThe crossings are being raised and this will be good during heavy rains.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By TONY VINDELLLFN Has anyone been checking out how the Henderson Road project is coming along?
