Los Fresnos TX, \u2014 On April 2nd, Los Fresnos Rotary lead the community in a family-fun basketball game exhibition. The Flight Squad is a traveling team of former professional athletes that play against communities to raise funds and provide entertaining and engaging experiences. This month the Rotary Club had the honor of welcoming them to our city!<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The crowds were ecstatic to cheer on the Flying Falcons as they challenged the \u201ctoughest, roughest, exhibition team in the world!\u201d
Also performing at the game were the Los Fresnos CISD Conjunto Halcon band, Stars Dance Team, and the Los Fresnos Folklorico group. Each group put on a fun and lively performance that captured the audience and inspired a sense of Falcon pride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The crowd’s favorite activity of the night was the quarterly basketball shoot-out battles. Los Fresnos local businesses sponsored community members to represent them, competing in free throw shootouts aiming to get as many baskets as they could. Some of the participants included Principal Stumbaugh, Coach Hinojosa, and even the Mayor, Alejandro Flores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


All concessions sales went directly to the Los Fresnos United Booster clubs. That\u2019s Rotary\u2019s way of giving back and helping Los Fresnos!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Los Fresnos Rotary receives check for $2,812 that they will be given as Scholarships to Los Fresnos Highschoolers, along with other funds<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n


Los Fresnos Highschool alumni class of \u201885 donated $2,812 towards Los Fresno student scholarships! The Rotary plans to discuss the total amount they will be adding to this generous donation. Rotary President, David Armendariz, guaranteed that Rotary plans to donate upwards of $1,500 to local students.
A highlight of the event was having the non-profit organization BiG Heroes and all their students attend. David Armendariz, exclaimed \u201cYou know, when I was a kid, seeing my first wrestling match, I was like \u2018Oh my G-d! Their bouncing and BREAKING TABLES!?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n


He explained, \u201cthat was the level of excitement these students had!\u201d Their joy and enthusiasm were unparalleled. They were thrilled to receive personal autographs from each team member.
Fortunately, BiG Heroes had a sponsor to pay for them to attend the event. Armendariz noted what a blessing sponsors can be to the community of Los Fresnos. Without their contributions and involvement, none of this would have been possible. It\u2019s amazing what a small community can achieve when its members and leaders are actively engaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
