RIO GRANDE VALLEY \u2013The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Tuesday that the department\u2019s student-athletes posted a 3.25 grade point average (GPA) for the 2021-22 academic year, including a 3.21 GPA in the spring, while 121 student-athletes are part of the spring semester Athletic Director\u2019s Honor Roll by achieving a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.25 while serving as full-time students as part of a team during the spring semester.
The department\u2019s cumulative GPA now stands at 3.29.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Ninety-seven student-athletes recorded a GPA of at least 3.50 to earn Dean\u2019s List recognition, including 40 student-athletes that finished the semester with perfect 4.0 GPAs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


By percentage, 59.45% of student-athletes earned a spot on the AD Honor Roll, 46.86% earned Dean\u2019s List recognition, and 19.32% recorded 4.0 GPAs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


This is the second-straight semester in which the bar for AD Honor Roll is a 3.25 GPA after previously being 3.0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


\u201cI am so proud of our young people for being so dedicated to their studies and succeeding academically by putting in a tremendous amount of work. This success will no doubt set up our student-athletes for success in life,\u201d UTRGV Vice President and Director of Athletics Chasse Conque said. \u201cTo see nearly half of our student-athletes honored on the Dean\u2019s List is remarkable. I am grateful for their dedication and that of our academic services team and coaches for their commitment to our student-athletes\u2019 work in the classroom.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Seven sport programs recorded team GPAs above 3.25, led by women\u2019s tennis, which recorded a 3.66 GPA as nine of their 12 student-athletes earned both AD Honor Roll and Dean\u2019s List recognition, including six 4.0\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Men\u2019s golf led the way among men\u2019s teams with a 3.43 GPA as six of their eight student-athletes earned a spot on the AD Honor Roll, five made the Dean\u2019s List, and two had 4.0\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Baseball had department highs in those on the AD Honor Roll (23) and the Dean\u2019s List (20) as well as those earning 4.0\u2019s (eight).<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Women\u2019s golf had the highest percentage of AD Honor Roll recipients (80%) while women\u2019s tennis had the highest percentage of Dean\u2019s List honorees (75%) and 4.0\u2019s (50%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Men\u2019s golf had the highest percentage among men\u2019s teams in AD Honor Roll recipients (75%) and 4.0\u2019s (25%) while men\u2019s tennis led in Dean \u2018s List honorees (66.67%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
