Sunday, December 11th performance at Camille Playhouse was packed, with so many having a wonderful time enjoy the great 3hr long performance.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Brownsville, Texas \u2014 Looking for a musical for the entire family? Camille Playhouse in Brownsville is showcasing the Sound of Music on December 9th, 10th, 11th, 16th, 17th, and 18th. Artistic Director for this year\u2019s season, Brandon Binder, share that this is something that hasn’t been put on since the 60s.
Binder admits it wasn’t his original proposal. He originally purposed the Christmas Show,<\/p>\n\n\n\n


“We wanted something holiday oriented, but also that (would) bring in a lot of people and is pretty well known,” Binder says, “There were a couple of others that were thrown into the mix aswell,” but after much discussion, the board seemed to keep coming back to The Sound of Music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunday’s performance with the main cast was a complete success at Camille Playhouse.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n


“It obviously has come to fruition,\u201d the director adds, \u201cwith different people auditioning and with how many tickets we’ve sold going into opening weekend,” they believe it was the right decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


President of the Board of Directors, Martie DiGregorio shares her excitement for this production, \u201cA lot of winter Texans are coming down during this time,\u201d DiGregorio says, \u201cAnd they LOVE the classics!\u201d She says they remember that and its those classics that just don\u2019t get old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


\u201cIf it\u2019s familiar to them, they\u2019re never gonna say, \u2018Oh, no, I\u2019ve seen it a million times.\u201d Classics are classics, and so many from Brownsville and surrounding areas are very excited about this production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Currently, this is Camille Playhouse\u2019s 59th season. Being the oldest community theater in the Valley! And DiGregorio adds the oldest south of San Antonio! Such great history behind this community theater, and DiGregorio shares they\u2019ve received some grants recently that they\u2019re planning to use for some renovation there at Camille Playhouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Finally, Martie DiGregorio says she wants the community to know that Camille brings much more than just entertainment, \u201cWe educate and we inspire,\u201d she says it\u2019s not just about entertainment, and she hopes every individual is able to take something away from each show and performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
