Teams from all over competed, but for the last 8 consecutive years, Los Fresnos Lady Falcons have been state champions. In fact, this year Los Fresnos senior Tyler Martin set a new record in her weight class, benching 200lbs!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>This amazing powerlifting team has a long history of breaking competition records and this year they did not disappoint! Seventeen students competed in this years competition and together the team scored a total of 33 points and broke yet another record. The Texas High School Women\u2019s Powerlifting Association (THSWPA) tweeted, \u201cTHAT IS A NEW RECORD!! 6A Tyler Martin from Los Fresnos benching 200LBS for her Final attempt in the 105LBS weight class.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Coach Jaime Vela says that &#8220;Tyler has always been great in bench press but she worked on it all season because she wanted to better her record.&#8221; Vela also says &#8220;The girls were extremely focused on winning. They don\u2019t want to be the ones not to keep the streak going.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Los Fresnos ISD posted on Facebook &#8221; The following ladies brought home Top 5 finishes:<br>Tyler Martin 1st place<br>Clarissa Rodriguez 1st place<br>Annette Cardenas 2nd place<br>Hailey Martin 2nd place<br>Kimberly Almazan 3rd place<br>Alondra Salas 3rd place<br>Soley Mendoza 4th place<br>Marifer Rodriguez 5th place<br>Kiara Villanueva 5th&#8221;<br>When asked how it feels to have won State for 8 consecutive years, Coach Jaime Vela says, \u201cWinning state eight years in a row is surreal.
