On Sunday, April 23, strong gusts came through Los Fresnos. City Manager, Mark Milum shares they recorded 74-mile-an-hour winds before the power went out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


He continued by saying, \u201cThe winds were probably around 80-miles-an-hour.\u201d
Though there seemed to be talk of a tornado, only a formation of a twister began. Thankfully, no one was injured during the strong gusts. Milum adds that inside City limits only a few places experienced outages, which they were able to bring back rather quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police Chief, Hector Gonzalez with the Los Fresnos PD said concerning damages, \u201cThere were some small limbs, but the Catholic Church was the main damage,\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n


An Article put out last week by channel 5 News shared that a witness, Charles Leal, saw it all happen. He says the wind gusts were very strong lifting the whole rooftop landing in the street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


First responders including Los Fresnos Fire Department, Public Works, and the PD helped close off a section of Highway 100, while they moved the debris out of the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The current status of Saint Cecilia Church in Los Fresnos; as of Tuesday, April 25, they were still waiting on the Insurance to assess the damage. Creative Communications Specialist with the Diocese of Brownsville says they have to just leave everything where it is until the Insurance can assess the damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
