Los Fresnos CISD middle schools are set to advance STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) educational opportunities in the classroom thanks to a donation made by a renewable resource company.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ACCIONA Energia, the owner and operator of multiple wind farms in Cameron County, donated $23,500 to the District for additional science lab resources. The funds are part of the company\u2019s Social Impact Management (SIM) program which supports organizations providing services in education, social initiatives, and environmental stewardship in areas where it operates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By supporting local schools, we are investing in the future, fostering STEM education and empowering the next generation to take on climate challenges with innovation and sustainability,\u201d said Joaquin Castillo, CEO of ACCIONA Energ\u00eda North America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The donation was presented during a ceremony in a science classroom at Resaca Middle School, one of three schools that will benefit. The other two include Los Cuates and Liberty Memorial middle schools.
“The most recent donation will help us to purchase additional science equipment for our Middle School Labs to support the incoming Engineering standards to Science in 2024,\u201d said Valarie Londrie, Chief Academic Officer for Los Fresnos CISD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Londrie adds this is one of four donations totaling $80,000 that Acciona Energia has made to the District since 2020, enhancing the solid STEM foundation Los Fresnos CISD offers students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


\u201cWe have added PK Project Lead The Way modules surrounding Healthy Habits and Coding and funded Maker Spaces (places for creative inquiring and engineering design) in all of our campus libraries, ” said Valarie Londrie, Chief Academic Officer at Los Fresnos CISD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
