If you are ever on South Padre Island don\u2019t forget to visit the South Padre Island Birding Nature & Alligator Sanctuary. This is a non-profit organization that relies on admission, donations, and gift shop sales to operate the facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Their mission is to provide educational opportunities for any visitors to learn about the birds, flora, fauna, and the environment of South Padre Island, Laguna Madre Bay, and the Gulf of Mexico, all with an emphasis on conservation and environmental awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


There is \u00be of a mile of boardwalk through 43 acres of coastal wetland environment. Walking along the boardwalk you will find five shaded bird blinds with seating. Surrounding the Visitors center there are butterfly gardens and trails for you to enjoy. The Visitors Center itself is a five-story high observation tower with spectacular views of the Laguna Madre, the beach and dunes of the island, and the Gulf of Mexico waters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


You can also find an alligator sanctuary with over 50 rescued alligators and a Salcuta Tortoise sanctuary. You could also find a South Padre Island exhibit room showing the island’s natural history. You can also watch a video by Richard Moore on the wildlife of the island. And of course, you wouldn\u2019t want to leave without a gift from the gift shop. They offer gifts such as nature-related books, decorations, T-shirts plus other interesting items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


On Thursday, December 28th the center held gator talks with a chance to meet \u201cBig Padre\u201d a rescued 12-foot 6-inch male American alligator plus other rescued alligators as well. After each \u201cgator talk,\u201d you could have a chance to hold and take a photo with a baby gator and a snake with the purchase of their \u201cAdventure Package\u201d. Guided birding tours with a naturalist are also offered at the center. Alrededor del centro de visitantes hay jardines de mariposas y senderos para que disfrutes. El centro de visitantes en s\u00ed es una torre de observaci\u00f3n de cinco pisos de altura con vistas espectaculares de la Laguna Madre, la playa y las dunas de la isla y las aguas del Golfo de M\u00e9xico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Tambi\u00e9n puede encontrar un santuario de caimanes con m\u00e1s de 50 caimanes rescatados y tambi\u00e9n un santuario de tortugas Salcuta. Tambi\u00e9n puede encontrar una sala de exposiciones de South Padre Island que muestra la historia natural de la isla. Puedes ver un v\u00eddeo de Richard Moore sobre la vida silvestre de la isla. Y, por supuesto, no querr\u00e1s irte sin un regalo de la tienda de regalos. Despu\u00e9s de cada \u201ccharla con caimanes\u201d, podr\u00e1s tener la oportunidad de sostener y tomarte una foto con un caim\u00e1n beb\u00e9 y una serpiente con la compra de su \u201cPaquete de Aventura\u201d. En el centro tambi\u00e9n se ofrecen visitas guiadas de observaci\u00f3n de aves con un naturalista.
