Get ready for a fantastic day at the Los Fresnos Community Park! We’re excited to invite you to the Ethel Whipple Memorial Library’s “D\u00eda del Ni\u00f1o | D\u00eda del Libro” celebration! There will be plenty of fun activities for the whole family, including book giveaways, tasty snacks, games, and so much more for the kids to enjoy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don’t miss the special performance by the Los Fresnos Folklorico group! You can also explore information booths set up by our wonderful community partners. Plus, the Los Fresnos CISD Literacy Bus will be there for some extra learning fun!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We want to give a big shout-out to the Friends of the Ethel L. Whipple Memorial Library, Walmart Supercenter Los Fresnos, and Coastal Event Rentals LLC for helping us make this event possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join us on Friday, April 25th, at 5 PM at the Los Fresnos Community Park, located at 402 W. Ocean Blvd. We can’t wait to see you there for a day of laughter, learning, and community spirit!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“El D\u00eda de los Ni\u00f1os\/El D\u00eda de los Libros” (Children’s Day\/Book Day) is a vibrant annual celebration observed every year on April 30th. This special day underscores the vital role that literacy and reading play in the lives of children, promoting not just the act of reading but the joy of discovering new worlds through books. The celebration fosters deeper connections between children and their families and a rich array of literature that spans diverse genres, languages, and cultural backgrounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspiration for this celebration draws from the Mexican holiday “D\u00eda del Ni\u00f1o” (Day of the Child), which honors the joys and rights of children. In the United States, this celebration has been broadened to strongly emphasize literacy, encouraging communities, schools, and libraries to host events promoting reading and access to books. Activities often include storytelling sessions, book fairs, and cultural performances, making it a festive occasion that celebrates childhood and the transformative power of books in building a more inclusive and educated society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
