Los Fresnos City Commissioners approved a move to continue their agreement with UTSA to participate under a program funded through the Section 1115 Waiver. The five year program, which is intended to promote a healthy lifestyle within the community, will begin its third year in October of 2013 after two years of planning and training, according to City Manager Mark Milum.<\/p>\n
Milum said some current funding proposals include extending some walking trails and the purchase of some exercise equipment for area public parks.<\/p>\n
Proposals for next year include the hiring of a coordinator for the city to organize exercise classes around the city and bring healthy living talks and workshops for the benefit of area residents. The hope is to partner with the Valley Baptist Health Systems to provide the experts to share specific health need topics.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe City of Los Fresnos wants to provide more opportunities for the community residents to learn about a healthier lifestyle and a safe place to live a healthy lifestyle,\u201d added Milum.<\/p>\n
