A public hearing was held at the regular meeting of the Los Fresnos City Commission to listen to comments from the public as they made decisions on 2013-2014 budget expenditures. No one showed up to speak at the meeting.<\/p>\n
The commission plans to adopt the same tax rate of $0.715 which has been the same for eight years. Revenues will increase slightly due to new construction and some annexations.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have proposed a balanced budget with the same tax rate. There will be no across the board raises this year and we will have quite a few un-met needs,\u201d commented City Manager Mark Milum. The budget will have an extra $7500 to be dispersed since there is no need for a municipal election.<\/p>\n
The average residential homestead in Los Fresnos is valued at $82,171 for the new tax year-$2 less than last year, so taxpayers can expect a savings of two cents.<\/p>\n
Final budget and tax rate meetings will be held September 24 & 25 at 7 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
