{"id":2133,"date":"2013-11-22T00:00:51","date_gmt":"2013-11-22T00:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/?p=2133"},"modified":"2013-11-22T19:43:50","modified_gmt":"2013-11-22T19:43:50","slug":"report-shows-that-100-percent-of-teachers-meet-highly-qualified-standards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/?p=2133","title":{"rendered":"Report Shows that 100 Percent of Teachers  Meet \u201cHighly Qualified\u201d Standards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Trustees received a report from administrators that showed that 100 percent of Los Fresnos CISD Teachers are Highly Qualified to teach core academic subjects.<br \/>\nThe federal government\u2019s No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001 requires that school districts publicly report the annual progress of the and each campus served in meeting the state\u2019s measurable highly qualified teacher objectives.<br \/>\nThe state of Texas targets all school districts to reach the 100 percent level for \u201cHighly Qualified\u201d teachers, who must have full certification, a bachelor\u2019s degree, and demonstrated competence in subject knowledge and teaching.<br \/>\nLos Fresnos CISD achieved the 100 percent \u201cHighly Qualified\u201d status for the sixth year in a row.Trustees also received the following District Reports:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Portfolio Report<\/li>\n<li>Tax Collection Report<\/li>\n<li>Summary Revenue and Expenditure Status Reports<\/li>\n<li>Monthly Disbursements<\/li>\n<li>Budget Adjustments<\/li>\n<li>Annual Investment Report for Fiscal Year 2012<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong> Board Ratifies\u00a0Agreements\/Contracts\u00a0for Employee\u00a0Assistance Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Los Fresnos CISD Interface Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which provides numerous services to district employees, was ratified by trustees for the 2013-14 school year.<\/p>\n<p>EAP provides free counseling services, legal services, financial services, and work\/life and wellness resources.<\/p>\n<p>Some resources designed to help employees and family members include dealing with life challenges such as family conflict, grief, changes at home, work or school; personal growth, and dependence or codependency issues.<\/p>\n<p>EAP is a completely free and confidential source of assistance.<\/p>\n<p>EAP services are available to employees, spouses and eligible dependents.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, call 713-781-3364, or 800-324-4327, or visit www.4eap.com.<\/p>\n<p>In other personnel matters, trustees approved the following positions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Daniel Cantu, Maintenance Office Coordinator<\/li>\n<li>Eric Espinoza, CTE Web Technology and Animation Teacher, Los Fresnos High School<\/li>\n<li>Sherrell Vasquez, CTE Criminal Justice Teacher, Los Fresnos High School.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In Other Action<\/strong><br \/>\nIn the Consent Agenda, trustees took the following action:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Approved Minutes for meeting held on October 21, 2013<\/li>\n<li>Approved Budget Amendment #3 for Fiscal Year 2013-2014<\/li>\n<li>Approved Ad-Valorem Tax Refunds for the Month of November 2013<\/li>\n<li>Approved the Annual Investment Report for Fiscal Year 2012<\/li>\n<li>Approved the District\u2019s Investment Policy<\/li>\n<li>Adopted a Resolution Approving Investment Officers<\/li>\n<li>Adopted a Resolution Approving Independent Sources of<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Instruction Relating to Investment Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Approved List of Qualified Broker\/Dealers to Engage in Investment Transactions with the District in Accordance with Government Code Section 2256.025<\/li>\n<li>Approved Authorization for the Administration to File<\/li>\n<li>Universal Services Administrative Corporation E-Rate Form 470 for Telecommunications Services, Internet Access, Internal Connections, Basic Maintenance of Internal Connections and Other E-Rate Eligible Products and\/or Services for Funding Year 2014 (July 1, 2014-June 30, 2015)<\/li>\n<li>Approved Agreements\/Contracts with Independent<\/li>\n<li>Contractors for Professional Services for the 2013-2014<\/li>\n<li>School Year: Staff Development Providers<\/li>\n<li>Approved the Agreement between Los Fresnos CISD and the Teaching and Mentoring Communities Migrant Seasonal Head Start Program for 2013-2014<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Under Action Items, trustees adopted a resolution to a cast a vote for Jose Noe Diaz for the Cameron County Appraisal District Board of Directors, Position Eight.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Trustees received a report from administrators that showed that 100 percent of Los Fresnos CISD Teachers are Highly Qualified to teach core academic subjects.
