It\u2019s that time of year again, when students from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade head back to the classroom for the 2014-15 academic year.<\/p>\n

Classes began Monday, Aug. 25, for about 10,500 Los Fresnos CISD students at 14 campuses.<\/p>\n

Elementary schools in grades PreK to 6 begin their days at 7:55 a.m., and dismissal is scheduled at 2:55 p.m.<\/p>\n

Middle schools in grades 6 to 8 begin at 8:25 a.m., and are dismissed at 4 p.m.<\/p>\n

The class day has been extended by five minutes at Los Fresnos High School and Los Fresnos United Ninth Grade campus. LFU students begin at 8:25 a.m., and are dismissed at 4:10 p.m., while LFHS students begin at 8:30 a.m., and are dismissed at 4:15 p.m.<\/p>\n

About 100 buses begin their routes out of the Los Fresnos CISD Transportation Barn at 5:30 a.m. to pick up more than 9,000 students who require transportation to and from school.<\/p>\n

Students new to Los Fresnos CISD may still pre-register Friday at their respective campuses. Returning students are pre-registered.<\/p>\n

Los Fresnos CISD encompasses 487 square miles, almost 39 percent of Cameron County. The first buses left the Los Fresnos CISDTransportation Barn at 5:40 a.m. Monday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
