The Los Fresnos Chamber of Commerce held its monthly meeting at the Los Fresnos Inn & Suites on March 24, 2015. The guest speaker was Mr. Marco Saldivar, President of AEM Brownsville\/South Padre Island Chapter. AEM is a non-profit organization established in 1996 in San Antonio whose mission focuses on topics related to business opportunities, practices and trends as well as cultural and educational events.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe help both sides\u201d said Saldivar.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe help those who want to do business with the U.S. and we help those who want to do business with Mexico\u201d Saldivar continued.<\/p>\n

Saldivar provided an overview of the three massive economic forces that are staging the entire South Texas and Northern Mexico border region for the largest economic boom it has experienced in recent history and is expected to transform both sides of the border into major metropolitan areas, the likes of Houston or Dallas, Texas.<\/p>\n

Saldivar also emphasized that logistical support for the incredible boom that is to come from the Burgos Basin in Mexico will stem from the Coast. The Ports of Harlingen, Brownsville and Matamoros will all play a major role together. This boom also presents a huge opportunity for small to medium sized companies offering products or services from insurance, construction, transportation, and so much more.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe provide a platform to ease the trade between U.S. and Mexico, we have an event here that is going to put us on the global map\u201d said Saldivar.<\/p>\n

The three economic forces that will have a huge impact on the region are the approval of energy reform legislation in Mexico, the Mazatlan \/ Matamoros Inter-Oceanic Economic Corridor and the arrival of SpaceX and the Aerospace industry. Saldivar also promoted VISION 2015 a South Texas \/ North Mexico Economic Conference and Expo scheduled for September 1 & 2, 2015. It is the only binational event of its kind.
