She was showered with praise by LFHS principal Ronnie Rodriguez, who called her \u201cthe best of the best of the best.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Garcia also addressed the board, and described her academic success as a \u201cpassion for learning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Also introduced were the following groups:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Special Olympic teams<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">UIL Academics teams<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Career and Technical Education groups<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">American Math Competition (AMC) participants<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">LFHS and middle school band honorees<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">LFHS Lady Falcon soccer team<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">LFHS Lady Falcon softball team<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">LFHS girls\u2019 track team<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">LFHS Falcons track team<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Swantner Named Principal<\/strong><br \/>\nLiz Swantner was approved by trustees to become principal at Resaca Middle School for the current school year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Also approved to teaching positions for the current school year:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Rocio Leal, Journalism Teacher, LFHS<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Gregorio M. Pe\u00f1a, P.E. Teacher, LFHS<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Approved for teaching positions for the 2015-16 school year were:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Amanda J. Ellison, Biology Teacher, Los Fresnos United<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Lawrence Ben Ellison, P.E. Teacher, LFHS<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Trustees also approved employment contracts for 2015-16 and 2016-17 for administrative staff, and for 2015-16 for campus professional staff.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Other Action<\/strong><br \/>\nTrustees approved the following items on the Consent Agenda:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Minutes for Meetings held on April 13, 2015.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Budget Amendment #10 for Fiscal Year 2014-2015.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Ad-Valorem Tax Refunds for the Month of April 2015.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Cash Purchase of six school buses.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Memorandum of Understanding with Cameron County for the Summer Food Service Program.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">2015-2016 Work Calendar for 260-Day Employees.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Dual Enrollment Agreement with TSTC.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Trustees approved the following items under Action Items:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Add, Revise or Delete LOCAL Policies as Recommended by TASB Policy Service and According to the Instruction Sheet for the TASB Localized Policy Manual Update 101 &#8211; First Reading.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Adoption of a Resolution to Implement Senate Bill 149 Relating to Alternative Methods for Satisfying Graduation Requirements Including the Use of Individual Graduation Committees.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Out of State Student Travel for Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) to Anaheim, Calif.
