Several cities from the four county area showed their support for the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley by flying the UTRGV Vaqueros flag on that day. UTRGV reached out to more than 25 cities within the four counties that make up our Rio Grande Valley.<\/p>\n<p>The City of Los Fresnos voted Tuesday, August 11, 2015 to approve the proclamation and therefore joined other cities accross the RGV in adopting the proclamation declaring August 31, 2015 as \u201cThe University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Day\u201d which serves to commemorate the University\u2019s opening day. \u201cIt lends to our unification, like one big happy family\u201d said Mark Milum, City Manager, with a smile.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Valley wide effort was made by UTRGV representatives, on behalf of the University, to accept the recently adopted proclamations declaring August 31 as UTRGV Day.
