The American Heart Association recommends eating five small healthy meals a day to maintain a healthy lifestyle. However, many of us can\u2019t seem to find the time to prepare them or commit to consuming them daily. How can we become more successful in consuming nutritious foods throughout our busy day?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Planning Ahead<\/strong><br \/>\nIn most areas where we desire to become successful we\u2019re willing to plan ahead, invest time and practice patience into improving ourselves. The same goes with living a healthier lifestyle. In order to make improvements we have to be willing to work towards a goal of developing healthier habits. Fruits and vegetables are considered smart snacks, they are low in calories and very nutritious. Most single servings of fruits and vegetables are less than 100 calories and are loaded with both vitamins and minerals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Snacks under 100 Calories<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 A medium-size apple (72 calories)<br \/>\n\u2022 A small-size banana (90 calories)<br \/>\n\u2022 1 cup of steamed green beans (44 calories)<br \/>\n\u2022 1 cup of blueberries (83 calories)<br \/>\n\u2022 1 cup of grapes (96 calories)<br \/>\n\u2022 1 cup of carrots (45 calories)<br \/>\n\u2022 1 cup of broccoli (30 calories)<br \/>\n\u2022 1 cup of bell pepper (30 calories)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Getting Started<\/strong><br \/>\nPlan: Create a healthy snack plan for the week.<br \/>\nTime: Make time to purchase and prep your snacks so they are clean, sealed and ready to eat.
