Photo: Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>by Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">A beauty\/barber shop held its grand opening on Monday and residents have more choices when it comes to taking care of such particular needs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Roxi\u2019s Hair, Makeup Plus More invited the community to thank them for their support by having a ribbon cutting that included snacks, music played by a DJ and other amenities at the business located in the towns newest plaza on North Arroyo Boulevard.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201dWe first opened in September,\u201c Roxanna \u201cRoxie,\u201d Moreno, the shop owner, said. \u201cBusiness has been going good for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">She said she never thought of having her own business until she decided to take an extra step using her savings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Mayor Polo Narvaez said small and mom-and-pop shop businesses are the backbone of the community.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cWe try to help them as much as we can because, to me, this is important,\u201d he said. \u201cWe like to encourage people to stay and to shop in Los Fresnos.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Roxi\u2019s is one of about 15 beauty shops, meaning there is one in such shop per every 443 people based on the city\u2019s population of 6,651.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">And in the words of a local official, that many beauty shops helps keep the people looking pretty.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Tony Vindell\/LFN A beauty\/barber shop held its grand opening on Monday and residents have more choices when it comes to taking care of such particular needs.
