{"id":8116,"date":"2018-03-09T18:24:53","date_gmt":"2018-03-09T18:24:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/?p=8116"},"modified":"2020-08-17T15:53:18","modified_gmt":"2020-08-17T15:53:18","slug":"new-city-hall-project-for-los-fresnos-gets-rolling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/?p=8116","title":{"rendered":"New City Hall Project for Los Fresnos Gets Rolling"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_8126\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Rendering-Title-Page-with-Logo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8126\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8126\" src=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Rendering-Title-Page-with-Logo.jpg\" alt=\"Courtesy Brown Reynolds Watford Architects\" width=\"600\" height=\"296\" srcset=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Rendering-Title-Page-with-Logo.jpg 600w, https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Rendering-Title-Page-with-Logo-300x148.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-8126\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Courtesy Brown Reynolds Watford Architects<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>by Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Construction of a proposed new home for the City of Los Fresnos took another step forward last week as the city council held a workshop with an architecture company in charge of the project.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The plan is to build a city hall on the North-East side of town off Texas Highway 100 and across from where a new fire hall is now under construction.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The project, expected to cost anywhere from $2.4 million to $2.7 million, should take about a year to build once a construction company wins a bid for the 10,800-square- foot structure.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">During Tuesday\u2019s workshop, representatives of BRW Architects gave an update on where everything stands and estimated a little more than two weeks to go for bids.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Daniel Peek, senior associate with BRW, said the new city hall will be made of stucco and manufacturing stone, will have a council chamber and courtroom about three times bigger than the current one and a large maroon colored wall to complement Los Fresnos Falcons pride, among other things.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The building\u2019s fa\u00e7ade will resemble a city historical building and the project calls for having additional land for the city to expand once the need arises.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Peek said they estimate the city should be ready to start seeking bids in early April. After that, he said a company will be selected within a month.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Construction would start in May with completion a year later.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The city has allocated $2.5 million for the project, but figures of $2.4 million to $2.7 million were mentioned.
