Photo: Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>by Tony Vindell<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The quality of life is getting better for residents of\u00a0Los Fresnos as the town is getting its first community park.<\/p>\n<p>Located on west Ninth Street, the park has been under construction for several months and it\u2019s now more than 50 percent complete.<\/p>\n<p>City Manager Mark Milum and Anna Alridge Smith, with the engineering company Hanson Professional Services, said the recreational facility will have barbecue grills, a playground for children and an aesthetics landscape.<\/p>\n<p>Alridge said the lot was donated by a local family and money for the project came from the city and from a grant program administered by the Texas Parks &amp; Wildlife Department.<\/p>\n<p>TPWD allocated $75,000 while the city invested another $75,000.<\/p>\n<p>Alridge said the park\u2019s general layout is done.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey need to put the playground in and to work on the landscape,\u201d she said. \u201cThey will also be installing solar panels for the lighting system.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alridge said the park will be a nice addition to the city.<\/p>\n<p>Several residents who live nearby the community park said people have been stopping by their homes asking when the park will open.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Tony Vindell The quality of life is getting better for residents of\u00a0Los Fresnos as the town is getting its first community park.
