Seven senior students attending four high schools from Los Fresnos to Santa Maria have become beneficiaries of the 2018 Los Fresnos Rodeo Committee.<\/p>\n

Each graduating student received a $1,000 scholarship during the Tuesday, May 1 meeting of the Rodeo Committee and are planning to use the money to further their education.<\/p>\n

The students and the high schools are:<\/p>\n

Aubree K. Ramos and Madison Taylor Wilson \u2013 Los Fresnos.<\/p>\n

Alyzza Nicole Garcia \u2013 Santa Maria.<\/p>\n

Rebecca Marie Johnson and Ty Garrett Rhyner \u2013 Rio Hondo.<\/p>\n

Hunter G. Lamon and Margaret Elise Adair \u2013 Harlingen South.<\/p>\n

Noel Lopez, chairman of the scholarship committee, said they are glad to award the money.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s all about helping out,\u201d he said. \u201cWe used to give one scholarship but expanded the program adding six more.\u201d<\/p>\n

One scholarship of $1,000 was the norm up to three years ago.<\/p>\n

The students showed up on Tuesday, most of them accompanied by their parents, and left with big smiles.<\/p>\n

Committee members said they achieved one of their goals to help for a good cause.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
