Photo: Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>by Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">A new company is planning to relocate into one of the complexes left behind after the International Educational Services closed its two facilities in Los Fresnos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Comprehensive Health Systems Inc., a company founded in 1975, which bills itself as one of the nation\u2019s largest and most experienced providers of workforce medical services, held a job event last week to accept applications and to interview potential employees at the IEA complex building along Texas Highway 100 west of town.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">CHS, headquartered in Cape Canaveral, Fl., works with Fortune 1000 companies and with the U.S. government \u201cto solve the highly complex, large-scale health care challenges they face by implementing and managing cost-effective, customized medical programs for large and dispersed workforces.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Some former employees with IES said they were told to re-apply with CHS and many of them showed up at a house along Highway 100 to fill out an application online.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">At a May 4 meeting of the Community Development Corp., the board was informed about a company planning to go in the shelters IES had on Highway 100 and off North Arroyo Boulevard.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">During last weeks job event, CHS interviewed people for about a dozen different jobs, including nurses, medical coordinators, teachers and youth care workers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Also, applicants must be bilingual, clear background and reference checks to work with children, the company said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">A spokeswoman for CHS, would not provide any comments when contacted by telephone, but recommended to call the federal government on matters concerning unaccompanied alien children.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">If CHS opens the shelters, it would help fill the vacuum left by IES that resulted in the loss of about 300 area jobs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Mark Milum, the city\u2019s manager, described the hiring announcement as a great thing for job creation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Tony Vindell\/LFN A new company is planning to relocate into one of the complexes left behind after the International Educational Services closed its two facilities in Los Fresnos.
