Photo: Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>by Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>A rodeo, featuring little cowboys and cowgirls from Torreon, Mexico, was held in Los Fresnos but the crowd was not what its promoters had expected.<\/p>\n<p>Less than 300 people attended the two days of the rodeo held Saturday, Sept. 1 and Sunday, Sept. 2.<\/p>\n<p>The shows were actually a type of comedy usually popular south of the border, was all in Spanish and most of the words described by an announcer and by the tiny participants had double meaning.<\/p>\n<p>Martin Torres, spokesman with a company that promotes the rodeo called M&amp;M Entertainment, said less than 200 people saw the first rodeo and about 80 attended the second day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe did not have good turnouts,\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t even think we broke even.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some in the audience said acts of the shows were not really geared toward children, while others said the rodeos were held during a time of the year when money is tight, particularly since a new school year barely got started.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that had something to do with it,\u201d William Perez of Los Fresnos said. \u201dWe enjoyed the show but they should have been here during a different time of year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Larry Cantu, a member of Los Fresnos Rodeo Committee, also said the turnout was a disappointment.<\/p>\n<p>He said the shows were more of a comedy than a rodeo but, nevertheless, were entertaining.<\/p>\n<p>Torres said they might try to come back during Los Fresnos Rodeo held in February.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Tony Vindell\/LFN A rodeo, featuring little cowboys and cowgirls from Torreon, Mexico, was held in Los Fresnos but the crowd was not what its promoters had expected.
