{"id":9615,"date":"2018-12-28T19:07:03","date_gmt":"2018-12-28T19:07:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/?p=9615"},"modified":"2018-12-28T19:08:11","modified_gmt":"2018-12-28T19:08:11","slug":"rancho-verde-elementary-wins-sweepstakes-award-at-eae","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/?p=9615","title":{"rendered":"Rancho Verde Elementary Wins Sweepstakes Award at EAE"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_9568\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9568\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9568\" src=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/31414917577_4d8739cde9_k.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"314\" srcset=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/31414917577_4d8739cde9_k.jpg 600w, https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/31414917577_4d8739cde9_k-300x157.jpg 300w, https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/31414917577_4d8739cde9_k-405x212.jpg 405w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-9568\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rancho Verde Elementary was the Sweepstakes winner in the 2018 Elementary Academic Event Dec. 15 at Los Fresnos High School.<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>by Ronnie Zamora\/LFCISD<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Rancho Verde Elementary won the sweepstakes\u00a0award at the Los Fresnos CISD Elementary Academic Event Saturday at Los Fresnos High School.<\/p>\n<p>RVE scored 259 points. easily outdistancing Palmer-Laakso\u00a0Elementary, which took second place with 162 points.\u00a0Villarreal Elementary, which won the 2017 event, third with 139.<\/p>\n<p>The students in grades 2 to 5 took part in 18 events, including Science, Mathematics, Number Sense, Creative Writing, Ready Writing, Oral Reading in English and Spanish, and Maps, Graphs and Charts.<\/p>\n<p>Each school had a coach for each of the nine events,\u00a0bringing the total to 162 classroom teacher coaches who have prepared students for this event since early in the school year.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, there are about 100 judges and volunteers who will assist in making the event a success. The total does not include hundreds of parents who are also expected to attend.<\/p>\n<p>The top six places in each category receiving awards were:<\/p>\n<p><strong>2nd Grade Oral Reading \u2013 English<\/strong><br \/>\n1.
