Photo: Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>by Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The block long Ash Street in Los Fresnos has been a source of discontent for some of its neighbors like Alfredo \u201cPilo\u201d Guerra.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a dead end street that shouldn\u2019t be in such a state of despair as it has been in the nearly 10 years Guerra moved into a house he now calls home.<\/p>\n<p>He said he has witnessed the street going to pot \u2013 literally.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust take a look,\u201d Guerra said while running a weed trimmer around the front yard. \u201cLook at the pot holes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And indeed.<\/p>\n<p>Small craters can be seen along the street and more so at the end of the circle drive where pavement is all but gone.<\/p>\n<p>Guerra said he has been planning to meet with neighbors to address the issue and had contemplated voicing his concerns before the city council.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you think this would do any good?\u201d he asked. \u201cWould it be worth it?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But when told that the deplorable condition of the street was mentioned during a city council meeting, he expressed a sigh of relief.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s good news!\u201d Guerra said. \u201cIt\u2019s about time!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the meeting, City Manager Mark Milum acknowledged that Ash and East Sixth streets are badly in need of rehabilitation.<\/p>\n<p>He said the city will apply for a Texas Department of Agriculture grant and, once approved, it will take about two to three months to complete.<\/p>\n<p>The cost of the project, which will include matching funds from the city, has been estimated at $350,000.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Tony Vindell\/LFN The block long Ash Street in Los Fresnos has been a source of discontent for some of its neighbors like Alfredo \u201cPilo\u201d Guerra.
