Photo: Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>by Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Each January is the time to recognize the roles all board of trustees play in all Texas school districts.<\/p>\n<p>And here in Los Fresnos, its seven board members were showered with poems and small tokens of appreciation by students from each of the school district\u2019s 14 campuses.<\/p>\n<p>The event was held to recognize the board during its first meeting of 2019, which took place on Monday, Jan. 14.<\/p>\n<p>The students, some of whom recited poems memorized word by word, stood either in pairs or alone in front of the board.<\/p>\n<p>Among the gifts the board members received included a book titled The Seed, a trophy with three stars and a colorful croton plant.<\/p>\n<p>Leonel Garza, the board\u2019s president, said January is the month to acknowledge the contribution board members do for the district.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Tony Vindell\/LFN Each January is the time to recognize the roles all board of trustees play in all Texas school districts.
